Website Down

Is your website not loading or coming up with error messages?  There is a huge difference.

First, who is the host?

Not sure?  Please check with .auDA (the .au Domain Authority): https://whois.auda.org.au/

Still not sure we can help figure this out for you and from there we can determine if you domain name needs to be renewed, if you hosting has expired or if there is a server outage, mis-configuration of your website or a potential hack of your site.

Email Not Working

First things first, have you checked to see if your website is loading.  If the site is not loading, the server could be down which is why your email is not working.

Do you have the right password?

Can you access your email from webmail?  Typically this is accessed on the following URL: https://www.YOURDOMAIN/webmail

If you can access webmail then things are good with email but your credentials are wrong on the device you are trying to access mail from.  In some cases it is best to remove the account and re-add it.  If you have a POP account make sure you have a local PST or OST backup file first.

Domain Expiring/Expired

I know this is scary, especially if the domain has already expired but keep calm,  there is at least a 30 day holding period where you can re-claim your domain.

A .au domain name is in the expiry period (‘Expired Hold’ status) for at least  30 days before its status changes to ‘Expired Pending Purge’ – at which point it is in a non-recoverable stage. After being at least 24 hours in the ‘Expired Pending Purge’ status, the .au domain name is purged from the database at the next purge cycle.

First things first, who is your registrar?

Not sure your login?  Use your registrar’s password recovery tool to get access to your account.

Not sure the email on record for your account at the registrar… call them.
